Smoke alarm alerts Coburg resident to house fire

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to a house fire in Gladstone Street at Coburg following a call to Triple Zero (000).

Crews arrived on scene within four minutes to find a single storey, weatherboard dwelling, issuing flames and smoke.

Wearing beathing apparatus, firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire, bringing the incident under control within 25 minutes, containing the fire to the front half of the house.

One person inside the house was woken by the operating smoke alarm and was able to safely evacuate the home prior to FRV arrival. 

There were no injuries reported.

Crews remained at the scene for some time afterwards to ensure safety.
