Crews respond to significant fire in Altona North

More than 60 FRV firefighters responded to a large building fire in Altona North overnight.

Firefighters arrived at the Millers Road scene shortly after 1am to find a 30-metre by 20-metre single storey, brick building was fully alight, with flames issuing through the roof.

Crews worked together to attack the fire, using 22 appliances, including aerial appliances.

Firefighters brought the scene under control after 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Firefighters remain on scene throughout the morning and are continuing to fully extinguish the fire, including attacking any remaining hot spots.

The buildilng was unoccupied.

Victoria Police will investigate the cause of the fire, which has been deemed suspicious.


A Community Advice was issued for smoke in the area.
