Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a reported house fire at Laming Road, Deer Park, shortly after midnight after multiple calls were made to Triple Zero (000).
FRV crews arrived on scene to find smoke and flames issuing from a single storey brick home.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the home and worked to extinguish the fire in the rear section of the home.
The fire was declared under control at 12.57AM, 36 minutes after FRV arrived on scene.
The house has been extensively damaged in the blaze.
One occupant was able to evacuate the home and was treated by Ambulance Victoria for minor burns and smoke inhalation.
A search of the premises by firefighters confirmed no other persons inside the home.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and will be investigated.
CFA, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria assisted on scene.
