Firefighters attend Truganina truck fire impacting factory

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a structure fire at 1.05pm on Paraweena Drive, Truganina after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a possible factory fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find a truck fire that had impinged on a factory and limited access to the building.

Crews wore breathing apparatus to extinguish the truck fire and protect the factory.

The incident was deemed Under Control at 2.07pm.

The fire was contained to the truck of origin, which was carrying hand sanitisier with a high alcohol concentration.

Some goods outside the factory were impacted but crews confirmed there was no fire extension inside the 80m by 40m building.

Firefighters identified a large volume of lithium ion batteries inside the factory, but the area did not appear to be impacted.

Victoria Police were requested for traffic control, and Ambulance Victoria to monitor firefighter health.

The power company was requested to attend.

A community advice warning was issued for smoke in the area.

The EPA and Melbourne Water were notified due to potential run off containing foam.
