Firefighters battle structure fire in Oakleigh

At 2.26AM, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a fire in Chester Street Oakleigh, following a single call to Triple Zero (000).

Crews arrived on scene within 4 minutes to find fire on the ground floor of a double storey shop, the premises smoke logged on arrival.

Wearing beathing apparatus (BA), firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, bringing the incident under control within 30 minutes, containing the fire to the lower storey.

The premises was unoccupied at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were on scene to support firefighting activities.

The incident was deemed Under Control at 2.56AM.

The fire was deemed suspicious.

Firefighters will remain on scene for some time, to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.

An advice message has been issued for smoke in the area.
