Firefighters tackle large Eumemmerring restaurant fire

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a structure fire at 5.47am on Princes Highway, Eumemmerring after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a restaurant fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a timber building, 40m by 40m, fully involved in flames and the response was escalated.

There was minor fire exposure to neighbouring properties, including a petrol station and several houses.

FRV and CFA crews, including an aerial appliance, worked externally to tackle the blaze.

Firefighters made significant progress in the first hour but were expected to remain at the scene for several house to fully extinguishing the blaze.

The scene was deemed Under Control at 8.21am.

The power and gas companies were requested to attend.

A Community Advice warning was issued for smoke in the area, with smoke impacting visibility on the Princes Highway.

The EPA was notified.

A council building inspector was requested to attend on Sunday.
