FRV and CFA firefighters worked together to battle a grass fire which erupted in Sunbury this afternoon.
Crews were called to Shepherd’s lane just before 12.15pm following reports of a large fire in a paddock.
Arriving on scene, firefighters saw thick smoke and escalated the response.
The fire was in danger of spreading to a nearby property and crews were able to prevent this from occurring.
It was a multiagency effort with FRV crews, CFA firefighters in tankers and a firefighting helicopter crew working together to protect homes and stop the blaze from spreading.
The fire impacted an olive grove and long grass.
The incident was deemed to be under control just after 1.30pm.
