Firefighters tackle suspicious shop fire in Yarraville

FRV firefighters were on scene in Yarraville this morning following a suspicious shop fire.

Crews were called to the restaurant in Canterbury Street, shortly before 4.30am after multiple Triple Zero (000) calls. They arrived to find a car driven into the shopfront. The car was on fire and flames had spread to the building.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the burning structure and knocked down the fire, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring businesses.

A municipal building surveyor will attend to assess the extent of structural damage to the building.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and Victoria Police is investigating.

Ambulance Victoria also attended.
