FRV tackles Preston shop fire

At 8.38am, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) was called to an incident on High Street at Preston after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported the roof of a shop on fire.

Crews arrived on scene within 4 minutes to find the top floor of the double storey warehouse-sized premises alight, issuing flames and smoke.

The incident was declared under control at 10.43AM but the scene remains active.

Preston markets were impacted by smoke and remains closed at this time.

The fire-affected premises was not occupied at the time of the incident.

Roads surrounding the incident (High Street, Murray Street) remain closed to traffic.

An advice message remains active for smoke in the area.

Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and firefighters will remain on scene for some time to ensure the scene is completely safe and the fire is extinguished.
