Lightning strike suspected as cause of Taylors Lakes house fire

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to reports of a house fire possibly because of a lightning strike to a home in Mirror Court, Taylors Lakes at 12.47am this morning.

First arriving firefighters commenced an internal attack on the fire which had already broken through the roof line.

Due to partial collapse of the roof a short time later, all firefighting activities were external and 2 occupants had reportedly evacuated safely.

At 1.48am, the fire was deemed Under Control with the 15m x 20m single storey brick veneer home severely damaged.

FRV operations will continue through the morning to fully extinguish deep seated hot spots within the structure.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria attended in support of FRV operations.
