Residents evacuated from apartment fire in Brunswick West

At 11:33AM, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a structure fire in Murray St, Brunswick West.

FRV enhanced the response after several calls from the public to Triple Zero Victoria (000) reporting an apartment fire on the 2nd level of a two storey 12 apartment 50m x 15m complex.

First crews arrived on the scene and immediately initiated a ladder rescue of a 75YOM trapped on a second-floor balcony, treating the man for smoke inhalation until the arrival of Ambulance Victoria. In total 14 people were evacuated.

The fire was deemed under control in 20 minutes, the cause is still under investigation.
